Airblast AFC Blast Booth Powers New JTS Nampa Facility Expansion

Airblast AFC install JTS blast and spray facility

Powering Progress: Airblast AFC Blast Booth Installed at Johnson Thermal Systems’ New Nampa Facility

The data center boom is reshaping America’s digital infrastructure – and one quietly impressive company is right at the heart of it. Johnson Thermal Systems (JTS) has just opened a brand-new, 172,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Nampa, Idaho, designed to produce the massive generator enclosures essential to backup power systems for mission-critical industries where downtime is not an option.

At Airblast AFC, we’re proud to have played a direct role in this expansion by supplying and installing the industrial blast and spray facilities at the new JTS facility. These advanced systems are vital to ensuring the enclosures meet the highest standards for durability, safety, and performance.

The Role of the Blast and Paint Facility

• Surface Preparation for Durability
Before painting, each enclosure passes through the Airblast AFC blast booth to remove welding residue, mill scale, corrosion, and other contaminants rendering the steel cleanliness to SA2.5. This step ensures maximum paint adhesion and significantly extends the product’s service life – crucial for structures that will endure tough outdoor environments.

• Corrosion Protection
With generator enclosures often exposed to the elements, thorough blasting and high-performance coatings are key to preventing corrosion. This helps guarantee operational reliability during emergencies, especially in data centers and healthcare facilities.

• Acoustic and Insulation Integrity
A properly prepped and coated surface ensures effective adhesion of sound-attenuation materials and insulation. This is essential for reducing noise levels from powerful diesel engines – particularly important in urban or sensitive environments.

• Aesthetic and Professional Finish
Our precision-engineered paint booth delivers a uniform, high-quality finish that reflects the standards of both JTS and their clients. It’s a finish that not only protects but also reinforces the professionalism and quality of the product.

• Compliance and Safety
From fire resistance to environmental safety, the surface preparation and coating processes help JTS meet stringent industry specifications and client expectations – supporting performance in even the most demanding environments.

In short, the blast and paint process is not just cosmetic – it’s foundational to the enclosure’s performance, reliability, and lifespan. By installing these systems, Airblast AFC has helped JTS ensure every enclosure meets the highest standards from the inside out.

We’re honored to contribute to such a forward-looking project that brings innovation, skilled jobs, and mission-critical capabilities to the Treasure Valley. And with plans already hinted at for a future “Nampa 2”, we look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting the ongoing projects.
