What are the Maintenance and Upkeep Considerations for Containerized Blast Rooms?
A blast room is a vital part of the industrial coatings process. Keeping your blasting equipment in peak condition ensures years of affordability, functionality, and the precise finish that you need for your products.
Installing a Containerized Blast Room
There are numerous environmental and economic advantages when using a containerized blast room. You don’t have to worry about doing a blast job in adverse weather. This means you can blast 24/7 to fulfill customer orders on time and enhance productivity. The controlled setting delivers a higher level of workmanship.
Blast rooms will usually have an automatic abrasive recycling system, allowing the abrasives to be recycled. With the dust collected, you get a cleaner containerized blast room, not to mention a cleaner community with pleased residents.
Benefits of Good Upkeep and Maintenance
You can save a vast amount of money every year just by upkeep and maintaining your containerized blast room. The advantages include:
- The increased life expectancy of the blast room equipment
- Less downtime due to expensive repair work
- Reduces maintenance costs
- Decreased labor costs
- Recycled abrasives mean lesser abrasive costs
- Lower cycling times
- Dependable high-class product finishes
Blast Room Maintenance Tips
Blast Booths
- Frequently empty the trash bins. Also, clear the trash sieve in the cross conveyor.
- Clean up any abrasive spillage if need be. Also, inspect to see where the spillage is coming from.
- Inspect the state of the blast room. Clean up any split abrasive around the blast room and blast equipment. Put it back in the system.
Blast Hoses
- Inspect the blast hoses for any signs of damage. Also, inspect the couplings and replace them if needed.
Blasting Helmets
- Assess the state of the blasting helmet by inspecting the inner lens and outer lens. If there is no outer lens, consider installing one. There should never be any dust leaking inside the blasting helmet.
Dust Collector
- The bins from the dust collector must never overfill, so clean them out frequently.
Likewise, clean out the bin from the fines chute as well. Remove any moisture from the header tank.
Breathing Air
- Inspect the breathing air supply, ensuring no odors are coming from it. Eliminate any moisture from the filter canister. Examine the gauge for the breathing air inside the helmet.
Conveyors
- Before every job, eliminate any debris from the hopper sieve. Inspect the eccentric bearings for any sort of noise (banging, squeaking, squealing) and report it ASAP.
